A Greener way to build...
Without doubt, one of the many advantages of timber frame construction are it's thermal efficiencies and the resultant savings in energy and running costs. But the benefits start long before you move into your new home with the positive effect the use of timber frame has on our environment.
At Lomond Timber Frame, we only use sustainable timbers in our structures, and all from renewable European sources.
Europe currently plants more trees than we harvest, and given that new forests absorb more CO2 than existing mature plantations, the harvesting of mature woodlands for timber frame construction and the resultant replacement saplings help ensure an efficient carbon dioxide / oxygen cycle.
And with timber having the lowest CO2 cost of any commercially available building material, (with concrete and steel using substantially more energy to produce), adopting timber frame construction for your new home goes a long way to reducing your carbon footprint.
